A sand seal prevents debris from penetrating the case at the crankshaft, which normally relies on an oil slinger to keep lubrication in - but does not keep dirt and sand out. This bolt-in, collared sand seal fits on all air-cooled VW motors. -
This heavy duty green sand seal is for engine cases that have been machined for a sand seal only
