Oil Cooler Bypass eliminates the oil cooler and redirects the in and outlets from the case. The plate is used to bypass the stock cooler for applications where it is not needed or full flow systems. Removing the stock oil cooler helps to get more airflow over the #3 and #4 cylinders, which have notoriously poor cooling due to the obstruction of air flow. There are two 3/8 NPT ports on the side of the bypass for customers who would like to install a remote oil cool or filter. The kit comes with the gasket, plug and hardware needed for installation and fits all Type 1 motors without modification. NOTE: TOP PORT IS OUT AND BOTTOM PORT IS IN

These replacement paper gaskets from EMPI fit between the engine case and their oil cooler block-offs or bypasses. The gaskets are not a replacement for the rubber seals that fit between the stock Volkswagen oil cooler and the engine. We recommend customers do not use these as an alternative to (or in combination with) the stock oil cooler seals. They are designed for use with aftermarket components. The gaskets are sold as a pair and fit with EMPI's P/N 9203, 9146, and 17-2946 products.

JayCee has their new full flow extension adapter for the main oil galley in stock. This allows the racer to put the oil pressure to the mains and not the oil cooler side. This chrome spin-on oil filter from EMPI has a standard 3/4 opening and fits EMPI s P/N 9204, 9244, and 9245 oil filter adapters (all use 3/4 - 16 threads). This filter can be installed and removed using either a standard strap wrench or a cap wrench for PH8A-style filters. If using this filter as your primary, we recommend replacing it every time you change your oil - about every 3,000 miles or so. This filter does not fit on any stock air-cooled Volkswagen motors - it is for use with EMPI or other aftermarket parts.
