This system works in stock VW distributors that are not 009 or 050 units. This Compu-fire kit converts the existing standard ignition system into an electronic ignition, eliminating the need for points and a condenser. More weather resistant and more accurate, this electronic ignition kit provides better ignition timing and a more consistent spark. Installing an electronic ignition can improve fuel efficiency and eliminate points bounce at high RPMs. This electronic ignition must be used with a coil with an internal ballast resister, or an additional external resister must be installed as well.
