Brake Adjusting Star for all VW Models with Drum Brakes.
This is the threaded wheel that gets seized into the backing plate, and prevents you from being able to adjust your brakes. Coat the contact surfaces with anti-seize. You need 2 of these per wheel. Minimize the travel distance from brake shoe to drum

Brake shoe adjusting screw. This is the threaded piece that goes into the adjusting star and engages the brake shoes. It takes 2 per wheel to replace. Replace corroded hardware to insure proper functioning and adjustability. Brake shoes will need to be adjusted regularly

Finish off your brake job by replacing the cracked or missing rubber dust plugs in your backing plates.
These plugs go into the inspection hole in the backing plate and keeps contaminants out and allows access to the brake adjuster screw. Without these the adjuster and star will get corroded much faster and seize up.
