The brass timing gear is installed on the crankshaft and is notched for the keyway. The brass distributor drive gear fits 1954 through 1977 Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1956 through 1974 Ghias, 1955 through 1979 Type 2 Bus models, 1962 through 1973 Type 3s, 1973 to 1974 Things, 1980 through 1991 non-diesel Vanagons and 1986 through 1991 Syncros. -
